Published: 19 August 2026. Starting NEET preparation in Class 12 is possible with the right plan. This guide gives a realistic structure without unrealistic promises.
Subject priority
- Biology — 360 marks (90 questions). Highest weight. Covers Botany and Zoology from Class 11 and 12 NCERT fully.
- Chemistry — 180 marks. Physical, Organic, Inorganic all important.
- Physics — 180 marks. Conceptual understanding plus numericals. Many students lose marks here.
Month-by-month plan (sample)
- Aug-Sep: Complete Class 11 syllabus chapters in all three subjects
- Oct-Nov: Complete Class 12 chapters while revising Class 11
- Dec-Jan: Full revision with NCERT line-by-line; attempt past papers
- Feb-Mar: Mock test series; analyse weak areas; targeted revision
- April: Revision only, no new topics
Common mistakes
- Reading too many books — stick to NCERT first, then one standard reference
- Skipping Biology thinking it is easy — it has the most marks
- Not practising timed mock tests — NEET is 200 questions in 200 minutes
