How to Register on National Scholarship Portal (NSP) for Tamil Nadu Students
Published: 19 August 2026. National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in) is the single platform for most central government scholarships. Here is how to register and apply correctly.
Who should apply
- Students from SC, ST, OBC, Minority communities for Post-Matric scholarships
- Students with disability (Central sector scholarship)
- Merit-based students under Prime Minister Special Scholarship
Step-by-step registration
- Go to scholarships.gov.in
- Click New Registration
- Select state: Tamil Nadu
- Choose scholarship type (Post-Matric, Central Sector, etc.)
- Enter Aadhaar number — OTP verification required on Aadhaar-linked mobile
- Fill in personal details: name must exactly match Aadhaar
- Set up login ID and password
- Complete the application form with institute details, bank account, and upload documents
Documents to upload
- Scanned community certificate (less than 500KB, clear scan)
- Income certificate (current year)
- Previous year mark sheet
- Bank passbook front page scan (student own account, Aadhaar-linked)
- Admission proof (fee receipt or allotment letter)
After submission
Track status on the same portal. The institute must verify your application. If your institute head does not verify within the portal deadline, your scholarship fails — remind the college scholarship coordinator regularly.
