How to Prepare for Engineering College Admission Interview Tamil Nadu
Published: 19 August 2026. Some private engineering colleges conduct brief interviews for management quota or special admissions. This guide helps you and your family prepare.
What they typically ask
- Why do you want to study engineering?
- Why this college and branch?
- What are your Class 12 scores and favourite subjects?
- What are your career goals?
- Do you have any extra-curricular activities?
How to answer honestly
Do not memorise flashy answers from the internet. Speak from your actual experience. If you enjoyed solving Maths problems in Class 11, say so. If your father is a civil engineer and inspired you, mention it. Authentic answers work better than rehearsed speeches in a 10-minute interview.
What to wear
Neat, clean, professional clothes. You do not need formal Western wear — a well-pressed shirt or salwar is fine. Avoid casual clothes like torn jeans or sleeveless tops. The goal is to look respectful and prepared, not to impress with fashion.
What parents should (and should not) do
- Do sit outside the interview room calmly
- Do not prompt the student with hand signals through the window
- Do not interrupt the interview panel to explain your child
