Red flags
- Requests payment in cash with no receipt
- Does not provide any written document on official letterhead
- Pressures you to decide within hours
- Receives payment in a personal bank account (not a college or institution account)
- Cannot show official government authorisation or affiliation
Verified channels to use
- TNEA counselling — only through tneaonline.org
- NEET counselling — only through mcc.nic.in (central) or TN state portal
- MBBS abroad — check if university is on NMC approved list (nmc.org.in)
How to report
- Tamil Nadu: call 104 (health helpline) for medical admission fraud
- Online: cybercrime.gov.in for financial fraud
- Local police station for direct fraud
