What to Do If Your NEET Score Is Too Low for MBBS in Tamil Nadu
Published: 19 August 2026. A NEET score that does not qualify for government MBBS is disappointing. But it is not the end. This guide calmly explains your realistic options.
Option 1: MBBS in a private college
If your score qualifies for any MBBS seat (even private), consider the fees honestly. Private MBBS in Tamil Nadu can cost Rs.15-30+ lakh per year in management quota. If your family can manage this without dangerous debt, it remains a valid option.
Option 2: BDS, BAMS, BVSC, or other medical courses
BDS (dentistry), BAMS (Ayurveda), BVSC (veterinary) all require NEET. If your score qualifies for these, they are legitimate medical careers. Each has career scope and dignity.
Option 3: MBBS abroad
Russia, Georgia, Philippines are common destinations. Fees are lower than Indian private colleges. But you must clear NExT/FMGE to practice in India — pass rates have historically been low. See choosing abroad university.
