TNEA 2026 Choice Filling Mistakes Students Actually Make

Mistake 1: Too few choices
Students who add only 5-10 choices often get nothing if those are all highly competitive. TNEA allows hundreds of choices. Add at least 30-50 choices ranging from dream to safe.
Mistake 2: Putting only one city
If you only add colleges in one city and those seats fill up, you get nothing. Include at least 2-3 cities you can genuinely move to.
Mistake 3: Ignoring fees
Adding a private college with high tuition without confirming the family can afford it leads to problems after allotment. Do the fee research before adding to the list.
Mistake 4: Wrong order (putting safe options first)
Some students put their safe fallback choices first and dream choices later. TNEA allotment gives you the best seat from your list that your rank qualifies for — so put your top preferences first.
Mistake 5: Copying a friend's list
Your rank, category, city preferences, branch interest, and fee capacity are different from your friend. A copied list is not built for you.
Mistake 6: Not confirming after submission
Screenshot and save your final choice list. Portal issues can reset entries. Verify the submission is recorded before the deadline.
