Question 1: Placement percentage of what base?

Ask: “Is this percentage based on the total graduating batch in that branch, or only on students who registered for placement?” A claim like “95% placed” can look excellent if many students opted out for higher studies, family business, or other plans and were removed from the base. Prefer a clear answer that includes:

Total students in the branch / department
Students who registered for placement
Students who received at least one offer
Students who went for higher studies or entrepreneurship

Write these numbers down. Percentages become clearer when you see raw counts.

Question 2: What is the branch-wise breakdown?

Overall college placement can hide big differences. CSE or IT may look strong while Mechanical, Civil, or some newer branches look weaker. Question 5: Can we see a detailed report, not only a slide?

Genuine colleges are usually willing to share more detail or point you to an official placement page. Be polite but firm. Ask whether data is audited or published in any annual report.
